In April of 2015, I had the pleasure of photographing the United States Air Force Thunderbirds as well as some other awesome planes at the Annual Sun and Fun Fly in Lakeland, Florida.
It was a beautiful clear day and I paid the extra $35 to be in the special Nikon viewing area up near the front of the viewing area. I was able to get some awesome group formation shots as well as individual close up shots of these incredible fighter jets.
My father was a master sergeant in the Air Force for 20 years. For my first 8 years in life, I grew up on Air Force bases living in the base housing. I remember frequently seeing the planes passing by closely where we lived. I must have developed a deep appreciation of all this, because now every time I attend an air show it triggers in me a emotion of joy, nostalgia and happiness in seeing these incredible air vehicles do their magic in the sky.
